I’ve rewatched a couple of Disney movies I liked as a young lad recently so it’s about time for me to rewatch one my cousins liked and I was forced to watch over and over as a young lad. And you know what, it’s better than I remember. The writing is a little rough around the edges as expected but it’s pretty funny sometimes, especially Olaf, played by the fucker from Pixels which I liked. It didn’t really feel like it’s breaking any new ground for a Disney movie (though it may have in 2013, I don’t really remember), however it’s very solid. The music is generally good, Let It Go bangs even though I didn’t want to admit that when I was like 7 and I know a weird amount of this movie’s soundtrack word for word. The animation however felt like a bit of a let down. I get that this was made in 2013 but some of the scenes look straight out of Shrek and that came out like a decade prior. Maybe my expectations were too high but I just don’t remember everything looking this bland and empty. Overall Frozen was passable but it certainly isn’t a classic and the fact this made a billion dollars is a little insane to me.
