I’m not really interested in talking about the series itself, more just to vent about on particularly part that ruined it for me that I’ve somehow found is an unpopular opinion. It’s super weird for at least 16 year old Talia and no more than 12 year old Roman to be a thing right? I know they don’t really “do” anything but for the show to be pushing them together like that it just feels odd and it feels even odder that I feel almost entirely alone in having this opinion. I’ve spoken to many people about this, some of them are in denial and are like actually Talia is 14 and just looks old because of the cybernetics she has, which if is the case even if I don’t buy it based on her personality and general vibes, is still pretty odd and even more odd that she’s tits out in 50% of the scenes she’s in. Even worse, most people I’ve seen talk about this online think the same as me, that this is a 16 year old being into a 12 year old and are just fine with that. I’ve even seen a comment verbatim in response to someone (a national hero) saying he’s 12: “And then? It’s fictional, and they love each other, what you gonna do?” and that just filled me with deep rage, as though we should entirely disconnect from our morals and mindlessly consume slop. This is such a common opinion too that I just feel even more resolute in my though that the majority of the anime and manga audiences are the worst of us and need to be cut off from society (more so than they already are). The amount of people out here romanticising grooming is upsetting and doesn’t leave me with high hopes for the future. The worst thing this did though was retroactively hurt the first season for me which I was very worried about when I heard this was coming out in the first place. I won’t dock off the first season’s perfect 10 just yet as I’m still gathering my thoughts but David still being 17 while a 20 year old Lucy was going for him at the time just seemed like another “night city ruined everyone’s morals” type deal but with them doubling down on that kind of weird age gap in season two for no reason at all I’m starting to feel like the people working on this show might just be creeps. Also if I see another person say “alright by anime standards” I’m going death con 3 On ANIME FANS. Art was still good though, as was the English voice acting, King’s parallels with Talia were interesting as was D’s whole plot as far as expanding the Cyberpunk 2077 universe went for me (haven’t played the games so maybe it did more for me than others).
